Good morning, Medina County! 👋

Halloween is officially in the rearview mirror, the costumes are packed away (or laying on the floor somewhere), and somehow we're already talking about Thanksgiving and Christmas. Seriously, where did October go? 🍂

But just because spooky season is over doesn't mean Medina County is slowing down. This weekend, we're smashing leftover pumpkins, kicking off holiday shopping, celebrating our veterans, and finding a few more reasons to get out and explore our own backyard.

So grab that second cup of coffee, ignore the Christmas decorations creeping into every store, and let's see what's happening around the county.

We found the good stuff so you don't have to.

IN TODAY'S SCOOP

🎃 Smashing Pumpkins: A fun way to say goodbye to Halloween (and those leftover pumpkins!).

🎄 Holiday Cheer Is Here: Local markets, festive shopping, and the first signs of the season.

☕ More Than Just Coffee: A local coffee shop that's making a difference beyond Medina County.

📅 The Weekend Scoop: Live music, family fun, local events, and plenty of reasons to get out of the house.

AROUND THE COUNTY

🕯️ Medina's Candlelight Walk Is Almost Here!

It's almost time for one of Medina County's most beloved holiday traditions!

The 42nd Annual Medina Candlelight Walk returns November 20–22, transforming Historic Medina Square into a glowing holiday wonderland.

Here's what's on the schedule:

  • 🎄 Friday, Nov. 20: Community tree lighting, holiday markets, and luminaries.

  • 🎆 Saturday, Nov. 21: Parade of Lights and fireworks.

  • 🎅 Sunday, Nov. 22: Santa photos and family-friendly holiday activities.

Between the decorated storefronts, thousands of glowing luminaries, and plenty of hot cocoa, it's the kind of small-town holiday magic that makes Medina special.

Mark your calendars. We'll have more details as the big weekend gets closer!

EAT & DRINK

☕ Once Upon a Farmhouse: Coffee, Cozy Vibes & a Little Shopping

There's a charming little spot in Granger Township where your morning coffee run might turn into a shopping trip.

Once Upon a Farmhouse, located at 4049 Ridge Road in Medina, combines a cozy farmhouse-style coffee shop with a boutique market filled with locally curated goods, home décor, gifts, and wellness products.

On the menu? Organic coffee, specialty lattes, smoothies, açaí bowls, and fresh baked treats.

A few drinks that caught my eye:

  • 🍯 Farmhouse Favorite: Vanilla, brown sugar, cinnamon, and raw honey.

  • 🍁 Maple Barn: Maple and brown sugar goodness.

  • 🫐 Barn Builder: A protein-packed smoothie with chocolate peanut butter, berries, and banana.

And unlike your typical coffee stop, you can browse the market while you're there. Coffee and shopping under one roof? Take that Starbucks.

📍 4049 Ridge Road, Medina, OH 44256

🕒 Hours: Monday–Saturday, 7 AM–1 PM; closed Sunday.

NEW AROUND HERE

☕ StoneWorx Coffee Co. - Brewing Coffee With a Bigger Purpose

What?! 2 Coffee-related stories in a row!?! Sorry, I am all hyped up on coffee as I write this.

A new coffee shop in Medina is serving up more than your morning caffeine fix. It's helping make a difference halfway around the world.

StoneWorx Coffee Co., which opened in late August at 2019 Medina Road, is located inside the new LifeStone Ministries headquarters, just east of I-71.

The locally operated café offers specialty coffees, pastries, and savory lunch options in a welcoming space designed to bring people together.

But here's what makes this place different.

StoneWorx sources coffee beans directly from small farms in Uganda, supporting local farmers. Through its partnership with LifeStone Ministries, purchases also help support educational programs and skill-building opportunities in Uganda and India.

So whether you're grabbing a latte, meeting a friend, or checking out the café's retail area, your coffee purchase helps support something bigger.

📍 2019 Medina Road, Medina, OH 44256

🕒 Hours: Monday–Friday, 7 AM–3 PM; Saturday, 8 AM–3 PM; closed Sunday.

GOOD NEWS AROUND THE COUNTY

🦃 A Thanksgiving Table for Every Family in Medina County

Thanksgiving is just a few weeks away, and one local nonprofit is hoping Medina County residents will help make the holiday a little brighter for their neighbors.

Feeding Medina County is on a mission to collect more than 1,000 turkeys to help local families enjoy a traditional Thanksgiving dinner.

And the need is growing.

According to the organization, 15–20% of people seeking its assistance recently have been first-time visitors. Last Thanksgiving, more than 1,000 people came through its holiday food distribution, setting a record.

This year, the organization is asking for frozen turkeys, stuffing mix, canned vegetables, cranberry sauce, and other Thanksgiving staples.

Want to help? Here's how:

🦃 Donate a turkey or food: Feeding Medina County, 650 W. Smith Road, Unit C-8, Medina. Call ahead to arrange a drop-off.

❤️ Make a monetary donation: Every contribution helps the organization purchase food for local families.

📅 Upcoming food distributions: Lodi (Nov. 5), Brunswick (Nov. 12), and Wadsworth (Nov. 24).
